Scott Fraser is Handley’s factotum. His never-ending list of duties includes: keeping winery vehicles in good running condition, emergency dishwasher repair, harvest duties, working the bottling line, hanging Christmas decorations in the tasting room, and even choosing window treatments for a new modular house on the property (“beige was definitely out”). His extensive unwritten job description includes running rigorous quality control on Handley sparkling wine (the 2003 Brut has passed with flying colors) and giving our French interns exposure to authentic Anderson Valley culture. A dependable presence around the winery, Scott enjoys the flexibility of his job: “I can work indoors or out, depending on the weather. As long as everything around here works, I can even take the day off.”
